John Lennon was an artist, musician, singer and composer. He was an activist who rose to fame and member of The Beatles which was an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. John Lennon was known as a dreamer that wanted to promote peace throughout the world, he encourage anti-war movements participating in several marches supporting peace and promoted civil rights activists. Lennon was an impact in popular music culture. The Beatles “revolutionized the sound, style, and attitude of popular music and opened rock and roll's doors to a tidal wave of British rock acts (Gallagher, 2010)” His song lyrics spooked about human condition wish later symbolize and inspired the promotion of National poetry.
Life:
John Winston Lennon was born in Liverpool on October 9, 1940. His parents were Fred and Julia Lennon, when he was just a little boy his parents got divorce and he was later raised by his Aunt Mary Smith. "John was a prankster that loved getting into trouble"(Na, 2010). As a young boy, he had a great ability to draw, and had a passion for artistic areas, but not really good grades academically.He was consider to be a "working class hero"(Matthew, 210) The master of his school suggested he could go to an artistic college, were he could exploit his talent to the best of his abilities. At 17, after his mother’s death, he formed a group called “Quarry Man”, time after; he met Paul, which told him to join his group that was then named by him as “The Beatles”. Brian Epstein discovered “The Beatles”, and his first single was “Love me do”. “Please Please Me” a single composed by Lennon, was the first number one song of the group. In 1962, John married Cynthia Powell, and gave birth to a boy who they named Julian. In 1966, he and Cynthia got divorced and he married Yoko Ono. The group “ The Beatles” got separated, in 1970. Due to Paul’s Mc Cartneys decision to leave the group, Lennon, decided to make his own path in the music, by promoting his album “Imagine”, who tried to transmit his believes of a better world.
In 1972, in the Madison Square Garden, he performed a handout concert, which had a great influence in people’s view of the world we live in, and was the final concert he gave with his new band “The Plastic Ono”. During a period of 5 years he lived in Los Angeles he recorded hits such as “Mind Games” and “Rock and Roll”, working with David Bowie and Elton John. He decides after a period of more than a year, to go back with Yoko, and in 1975, Sean, their son, was born. Lennon decides to spend 5 years of his life on raising his child, and let the music a side, for a while. After those 5 years he wrote and recorded his album “Double Fantasy”, which was released in 1980. Now a days Green day uses "their version,the last two lines are from the original John Lennon song"(Saginaw, 2010). An extremist fanatic of the singer, after John rejected his desire of signing an autograph in the lobby of the building were he lived, shot him and ended that 8 of December of 1980, with a character, that has been to the history of music, a hero, that marked what we know as music, forever.
